Tok Sen is a truly ancient art, dating back 5,000 years and practiced only in the Lanna area of Northern Thailand, which also developed its own style of therapeutic yoga. In this massage, a special rod of wood from a Tamarind tree is tapped gently with a similar hammer or mallet, causing it to vibrate, and transfer these vibrations to the human body. This Thai massage technique releases blockages deep within the body and tension in deep muscle groups. Believers in body energy find that Tok Sen opens up the channels in their body, producing deep meditative states, feelings of rejuvenation, and vigor.
